Bursting with organic vitality, this sculptural barbotine (also known as French majolica) vase from the early 20th century captures the essence of the Art Nouveau spirit. Titled “Centre de table aux 3 tulipes No. 38,” the piece features three richly glazed tulips around a central stem crowned with irises, all rising from a base of lotus leaves and blossoms. The bold, flowing lines and vibrant glazes reflect the movement’s fascination with nature’s sensual forms and fluid rhythms.

Stamped with the mark of the Faïencerie d’Onnaing, this piece is a fine example of the Northern French manufacture’s contribution to ornamental ceramics during the Belle Époque. Active from the mid-19th century until the early 1930s, Onnaing was renowned for its colorful barbotine wares, often inspired by the natural world and executed with expressive modeling and vivid glazes. The piece remains remarkably intact, with only very minor wear visible along the rims of the leaves.

Both sculptural and functional, this piece offers multiple decorative possibilities: the central vase and each of the tulip blooms can hold flowers or foliage, while the cupped lotus leaves at the base are perfect for presenting fruit or small seasonal arrangements.
