Romantic Late 19th-Century Perfume Bottle - 4¾"

This late 19th-century glass perfume bottle is encased in a decorative gilt brass mount. Each side is adorned with a garland of painted roses and framed by vertical bands of pierced rings, while charming cherubs push flower-laden wheelbarrows around the base, a poetic reflection of the bottle’s original purpose. In its time, such bottles were often bought separately and brought by their owners to elegant perfumeries or apothecaries to be filled with favorite fragrances, a ritual of refinement and personal luxury.
