On Tuesday, Celtic suffered a 2-0 defeat against Lazio in the Champions League, which ended their hopes of progressing to the next round.
The Bhoys are currently at the bottom of their Champions League group with only one point from five games and their chances of getting into the Europa League with a third-place finish are also out of their reach.
McFadden pointed out that Celtic lacked the attacking threat they previously showed at home in the Champions League and stressed that it has been another disappointing campaign for the Scottish giants.
The former Scotland international also pointed out that Celtic have made a habit of looking comfortable throughout games, but come out with no result to show in Europe.
“It was the same old story in terms of Celtic looking comfortable and, in the end, coming away with nothing”, McFadden said on BBC Radio Scotland.
“I think some of the earlier games they had a good attack, speed in their attack and looked really good against Lazio at home, Atletico Madrid at home.
“I thought they looked comfortable tonight and lacked that attacking threat.
“If it had finished 0-0, I do not think anybody would have complained about the results, but likewise, when you bring on players of quality like [Ciro] Immobile and Pedro and they score goals, you are not surprised.
“It is another disappointing campaign for Celtic.”
Celtic are set to face St. Johnstone on Sunday and they will be hoping to bounce back from their two-game winless run against Craig Levein’s side.
