This rare and visually captivating vase is part of Christofle's renowned "Dinanderie" line, designed in 1930 by the renowned French artist Luc Lanel (1893–1965). Crafted in copper and silverplate, the vase features a bold geometric motif of stylized shields and vertical accents, emblematic of the Art Deco period. The interplay between the warm copper and cool silver creates a surface that reflects light in a dynamic, almost architectural way, giving the piece a striking visual presence.
Signed "Christofle" on the base and stamped with the production code B1L, this piece is an authentic example from the celebrated series Lanel developed after joining Christofle as head of the electroplating department in 1920. Through the Dinanderie line, he reimagined traditional copper and brass work with a modernist sensibility, earning Christofle international recognition for design excellence and innovation.
The surface shows a light patina and delicate foxing from age, which add depth and character to its already luminous finish. These subtle signs of time speak to the vase’s history and enhance its appeal. More than a decorative object, it is a work of French design heritage. Whether placed on a console, mantel, or in a curated Art Deco vignette, it serves as a sophisticated focal point that captures both light and attention.
